Singer Toni Braxton’s 13-year-old son, Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis, is autistic. Diezel was diagnosed with autism at a young age, which allowed him to get the proper treatment through early intervention. Due to her son’s drastic improvement, Toni stresses the importance of early detection in the role of social and cognitive development. She is also an active advocate of Autism Speaks, where she was named the organization’s Global Ambassador in April 2012.
